It’s that time of year—time to discuss our New Year’s resolutions for 2019.
It’ll soon be January, and the big conversational buzz around this time of year is often about our New Year’s resolutions. But today, I want to tell you a little secret:
I’ve never made a New Year’s resolution.
I just really don’t believe in them. I believe more in introspective questions that will help your brain begin working on the things you want to change about yourself for a positive impact on your life going forward in 2019.
Here are the top two questions I tend to ask myself this time of year:
1. “Did you achieve everything you set out to achieve this year?” Everyone can think of something they didn’t accomplish that they wish they could have, but what about the things that went right? Doing more of that in the coming year is a surefire way to help you motivate yourself to be more successful in 2019. Yes, you need to acknowledge what didn’t go as planned, but spend a little more time thinking about your successes.
2. “Where do you want to be at this time next year?” Moving forward in your business and in your life requires acknowledging and visualizing where you want to be. If you don’t have a roadmap, there’s not really an easy way to get there; setting a goal for yourself helps your brain go to work for you while you’re doing other things. You’ll produce greater results because you’ll have greater clarity about where you’re headed.
Looking back on 2018, I would be remiss if I didn’t say how grateful I am to be able to be the broker of the area’s most elite agents. I’m so proud of each and every one of them and all they’ve accomplished year after year. Our per-agent productivity is unmatched; they out-sell, out-produce, and out-earn all of our competitors and the reason for that is because our sole focus is on helping them do just that. We don’t do anything else—all we focus on is helping our agents create an extraordinary business.
