A question that comes up in our industry a lot is, “Does branding really matter?” I’m here today with my answer.

If all real estate brands are created equally, then why do RE/MAX agents out-produce their competitors 2-1 for the last 40 years? For the last 14 years, the agents in our local office have out-produced their nearest competitors by the same margin.

It’s pretty clear that our brand matters, but there’s a myriad of other factors that contribute as well. The first is focus. When we started RE/MAX Realty Affiliates 14 years ago, my sole focus was on helping agents build an extraordinary business. A broker should be focused on helping agents build their business and not much else.

The second thing is our culture. We are a group of highly professional and productive agents who really want nothing more than to make amazing things happen for our clients. We want to get results. Our drama-free culture allows us to focus on what we do best.

Now, let’s circle back to our branding. Companies that don’t have branding love to talk about how it doesn’t matter, but it does. The numbers don’t lie. If brand doesn’t matter, why aren’t the numbers from the other companies (both locally and nationally) higher? When you think about soda, what pops into your head? Was it RC Cola? Or was it Coke or Pepsi? There’s nothing wrong with RC Cola, but it doesn’t resonate with consumers the way that Coke and Pepsi do. The same is true for real estate. Consumers understand and respect the RE/MAX brand.

Finally, our systems and structures help us support agents and help them build their extraordinary businesses. Everything we do is focused on helping you produce more in less time. It’s just that simple.
